Climate Risk Green Finance in Africa

10 Days Remote Training

Introduction

As climate change increasingly disrupts economies and ecosystems, financial institutions, governments, and businesses must proactively address climate-related risks while unlocking opportunities in green finance. Climate Risk & Green Finance in Africa and Globally is a comprehensive training program designed to equip finance professionals, policymakers, and sustainability leaders with the expertise to assess, mitigate, and manage climate risks and to capitalize on emerging green financing mechanisms.

This course explores how climate-related risks—both physical and transition—impact financial systems, investment portfolios, and economic stability. Participants will gain insights into integrating climate risk into credit assessments, insurance models, and enterprise risk management systems, while also learning how to access climate finance, green bonds, carbon markets, and sustainable investment flows.

Tailored to the African context while referencing global best practices, the course bridges the knowledge gap between regulatory demands, environmental impact, and financial innovation. It emphasizes practical tools, frameworks (like TCFD and ISSB), and case studies relevant to banks, development institutions, asset managers, and government agencies.

Professionals taking this course will be well-equipped to support sustainable development, align with international climate goals, and build resilience in financial systems amid accelerating climate challenges.
